I’m convinced that TPOH was my gateway drug to Canadian power pop. Though, yeah, any chance they could remaster this with the vocals waaaaaaaay back in the mix?
And it’s nice to look at this video and realise Kid Rock had a role model north of the border.
This song and XTC’s Senses Working Overtime always remind me of each other, because they’re both songs in which I knew Todd Rundgren was involved the moment I heard them (he produced both).
I can’t speak to the rest of either album, but those two tracks are dead ringers for Utopia.
Which is far from a bad thing.
