Good Friday: Why Good?
And this isn’t called “sad Friday” or “bad Friday,” It’s Good Friday. Shouldn’t this be a bit disturbing?
I believe it’s simply an archaic use of “Good” as a synonym of “Holy”. Someone with stronger etymological chops than me (Richard, maybe?) can probably either back me up or shoot me down.
