No matter how much I appreciate GarfieldMinusGarfield.tumblr.com, I find it insulting to the each of us when he continues to plagurize (sic) my comics.
Matt Brown, creator: an Ode to Jon Arbuckle (via garfieldminusgarfield2)

Okay I am confused on who is plagiarizing who now. (via un)

Looks pretty straight forward to me. Back on February 13th, a certain not so secret tumblelogger starts garfieldminusgarfield, inspired I believe by a forum thread going around with Garfield’s speech bubbles removed. Then on March 7th “Matt Brown” creates garfieldminusgarfield2 and runs out it front of the parade, preparing to declare himself drum major. He then starts working his own way through the Garfield archives, cranking out strips as fast as he can, until garfieldminusgarfield (who has no reason to even know garfieldminusgarfield2 even exists) happens to post one that he’s already gotten to.

Who knows what motivates this sort of thing, but the fact is there’s no plagiarism, in either direction, between the two of them. There’s no writing going on whatsoever. They are simply defacing the originals in the same manner, one that anyone with an image manipulation program can recreate. Since neither represents the original comics as their own, there’s not even plagiarism from Jim Davis (just potential copyright violations).

Actually, there is one piece of plagiarism: the description on garfieldminusgarfield2 lifts text from garfieldminusgarfield that had been quoted in many places before garfieldminusgarfield2 even existed.
