Do this new Directory if you must, but for the sake of us all take those numbers off of there.

I reserved judgment of Tumblarity, finding it more amusing than irritating, but I have to say posting that number in the Directory for all to see will only feed and encourage the worst gaming behaviors.

As volatile as the numbers are, why not just list the top rated tumblelogs without ranking or Tumblarity, perhaps in random order?

This would still serve the purpose of discovery, but give less incentive to those seeking to become the Karma Whores of Tumblr.

More importantly, it would be less discouraging to those with lower numbers. How many new, engaging voices will never get a chance to build an audience because they give up after seeing Tumblarity ratings orders of magnitude larger than theirs in the directory?
