Videotape…videotape…videotape

Kudos, Samsung
Last week, our 42” Samsung LCD TV started taking a randomly long time to start.
After a little preliminary troubleshooting (full power cycle, making sure there wasn’t a stray IR signal bouncing around the room), I headed to the Internet to see what I could find.
Turns out Samsung, along with just about any manufacturer that uses capacitors, fell victim to the Capacitor Plague, a...
Dear Social Sites That Email Me About My Friends'...
You are not the only site I use that does this, or at least shouldn’t assume you are.
Don’t just tell me my friend’s rating.
Tell me the rating scale, so that my friend’s rating may mean something to me.
I’m looking at you, GoodReads.

– Would-Be Suicide Bomber Killed by Unexpected SMS From Mobile Carrier | Threat Level | Wired.com
Seems to me that cell phones would be used as makeshift remote detonators. There’s no need for anything as convoluted if you’re a suicide bomber.

Yes, I’ve got a decluttering bug up my ass again, and I’m letting it take over.
I can’t wait to find out how many staplers I have1. I’m setting the over/under at 6.

33) Damon Lindelof Charges: As co-creator of “Lost” and co-writer of the monumentally terrible final episode, Lindelof first conjured a confusing yet entertaining sci-fi epic but then, despite its mechanical sound, the “Smoke Monster” turns out to be the ghost of the father of liberal philosophy, side plots about mental illness and alternate universes go nowhere, paper-thin characters...
Feel free to reblog the hell out of that, BTW
And Christa, that’s why I specifically said “able-bodied” instead of “who can walk”. I give people the benefit of the doubt, but when I see situations that defy statistical possibility, I like to yell at violators en masse. Maybe—just maybe, someone will get a clue of their own.
Dear able-bodied persons who park in designated...
I’d kill to see my son take even one more step, you lazy, inconsiderate, fucks.

Quick Google Tip
When you’re searching for something about your operating system, or software in general, click ‘Show search tools” in the sidebar of the results and restrict the results to “Past Year” (or “Past Month” for a rapidly changing item).
It’ll really boost the relevance of your results.

From Pink’s blog post regarding this video:
I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms. And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well. There are good people in this world that are...

Less Excited About Kindle Book Lending Already
Only a handful of my books are eligible, and I can loan each one exactly one time, to one person, and for 14 days.
After that, I can never lend it again.
For the record, though, I”m perfectly fine with the fact that I can’t access a book myself while it’s loaned. Some people are griping about it, but it seems reasonable to me.
How to Lend and Share Kindle Books →
In October 2010, an Amazon employee posted in the Kindle forum that Kindle book lending would begin before 2011. With only two days to spare, Amazon.com made it under the deadline, because on December 30, 2010 Amazon’s Lending Kindle Books program started.
I can’t believe I missed this announcement.
